Business Proposal: Investing in GroChick – Farming for a Better Future
Introduction:
At GroChick, we believe in the power of sustainable farming to transform lives, communities, and economies. We’ve developed an innovative supply chain that empowers small-scale farmers while ensuring a consistent supply of fertile eggs and day-old chicks to meet market demand. Whether you’re interested in farming or investing, GroChick offers an opportunity to be part of a thriving agricultural enterprise that’s making a real difference in South Africa’s economy.
Our Unique Supply Chain:
At the heart of GroChick’s success is our innovative supply chain, which empowers small-scale farmers to participate in the fertile egg production industry. Here’s how it works:
- Fertile Egg Production: We work closely with our network of small-scale farmers who specialize in producing fertile eggs. These eggs are the foundation of our business, and they are the first step in our supply chain.
- Weekly Profit for Farmers: Our partnership model ensures that participating farmers receive a consistent income. We provide them with the necessary resources, including feed and expertise, to sustainably produce fertile eggs. Farmers are rewarded with profits every week.
- Day-Old Chicks: The fertile eggs are then either sold or hatched into day-old chicks, depending on market conditions and demand.
- Rearing to Maturity: Day-old chicks are reared to maturity as either hens or roosters. A portion of the roosters are sold for slaughter, providing another income stream for our farmers. Additionally, some roosters are retained to breed with the laying hens, ensuring a continuous supply of fertile eggs. We call these chickens “Parent Stock”.
- Sustainable Breeding for excellent Parent Stock : Our approach to rearing day-old chicks extends to the careful management of roosters and hens. A portion of the roosters are ethically raised and sold for premium meat, while another portion remains to ensure a continued cycle of breeding excellence with our laying hens. This sustainable breeding strategy enhances both our product diversity and the long-term viability of our operation.
- Expanding Our Impact: As part of our commitment to sustainable growth, we sell these carefully selected flocks of parent stock to farmers who share our vision. This expansion not only benefits individual farmers but also broadens our farmer partner supply network.
Investment Opportunities:
We offer two primary ways to get involved with GroChick:
- Farming: If you have a passion for farming, you can become one of our partner farmers. We provide you with the necessary support, including fertile eggs, feed, and expert guidance. You’ll have the opportunity to earn a consistent income through your participation in the fertile egg and day-old chick production process.
- Investment: If you believe in our business but aren’t in a position to farm, you can still be part of GroChick’s success story. Your investment will support our expansion efforts, allowing us to reach more small-scale farmers and create a positive impact on their lives and communities. We offer competitive returns on investment.

How big do the chicken coops need to be?
There is no specific size requirement for chicken coops within the GroSpace model. We believe in tailoring each project to the unique circumstances of the farmer. Here’s how we approach it:
Feasibility Study: Before setting up a project, we conduct a thorough feasibility study. This helps us understand what resources the farmer has available and assess the potential of the site.
12-Month Minimum Viable Plan: Based on the feasibility study, we design a 12-month minimum viable plan for the chicken coop’s size and capacity. This initial plan sets the foundation for the project.
Performance Assessment: As the project progresses, we closely monitor its performance. We consider factors like egg production, feed efficiency, and profitability.
Expansion: Based on the audited financials and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), we consider opportunities for expansion. Expansion is gradual and depends on the success of the farm.
Our approach is flexible and adaptable, ensuring that each chicken coop is optimized for success while accommodating the farmer’s resources and growth trajectory.
